The Grants Management Unit works with the GU Central Administration and all researchers and grant writers the Faculties and Institutes to ensure that it executes it’s mandate as enshrined in the Policy effectively and efficiently without leaving anyone behind.
The Grants Management Unit (GMU) was established in 2021 initially as a Grants Desk with a mandate to serve as a centralized unit to coordinate and manage grants in the University. This came about after the University realised that Grant funding had increasingly become a more significant revenue stream, making grant-seeking a core culture of universities around the globe. In December 2022, the University Council approved the Grants Management Policy with the following objectives:
1. To establish a framework for grants mobilization, execution and management.
2. To provide guidelines through which grants are linked to existing laws, policies and regulations governing Gulu University as a Public entity;
3. To define the roles of different University officials in the mobilization and
management of grants of the University; and,
4. To create a platform to track and monitor grants within the University.
